Fruit presentation assessment

Please kindly note that the print out of the presentation is not the most recent version. This sheet was used for me to provide students with descriptive feedback. Students were given the opportunity to improve their presentation using the feedback, which was reflected in their thinking category of the science marks and also the general writing marks. The checklist was also used to provide feedback. The final marks are not based on this checklist.

I did not include the printout of the final presentation as I had the opportunity to look at them during the students' presentations and it was reflected in marking. Necessary feedback for next time based on their final version of the presentation was provided orally.

If you have any further questions about this assessment, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for your support.

May 2018 newsletter

Dear Family,
Here are some curriculum updates and important information for the month of May.

Curriculum Updates
Language & Health
o We will be working on our opinion / persuasive writing unit combining the writing activities with health curriculum expectations on avoiding bad habits.
o We will learn to ask “good question” for inquiry projects and while reading.
Math
o We are learning to describe, identify and create geometrical transformations including reflections, translations and rotations using a variety of materials. We will learn to estimate, measure and record length, perimeter, area, mass, capacity, using standard units. We will also be learning to compare, describe and order objects, using attributes measured in standard units. After our measurement unit, we will work on our probability unit in which students will learn to predict the frequency of an outcome in probability experiments and game.
Science
o We are almost finishing our soil unit. We have been learning to identify and describe different types of soil and their characteristics.
